Mery Vera's Impactful Experience at FCC USA

From the Field to the Heart

This summer, FCC USA had the pleasure of welcoming Mery Vera, an intern from Argentina, to our team in Miami. As she continues her academic journey in the United States, Mery joined us as an Impact Coordinator Intern, and her time with us has been a deeply transformative experience.

Mery quickly discovered that soccer at FCC USA is more than just a sport—it’s a powerful tool for change. Immersed in our mission, she witnessed firsthand how soccer can shape lives, build communities, and instill values that resonate far beyond the field. One of the most profound insights Mery gained was understanding how teaching with love and compassion can have a far greater impact on a child’s cognitive development than traditional methods.

During her internship, Mery became deeply engaged with our programs, seeing how our approach ensures that every child has the opportunity to participate, play, and grow. She was particularly struck by the way soccer was used to teach critical life skills like teamwork, discipline, and respect. Through my time here, I’ve learned that soccer is a tool that shapes lives,” Mery reflected, “and that true change starts with compassion.”

Mery's experience at FCC USA has been more than just a professional opportunity—it’s been a journey of personal growth and learning. She discovered new ways to connect with and inspire young people, seeing firsthand the powerful impact of soccer as a means of social development. Mery leaves us with a deepened understanding of the transformative power of sport and a passion for continuing to make a difference in the world.

Her story is a testament to the life-changing work we do at FCC USA, and we’re proud to have been a part of her journey.
