Building Skills and Character in West Miami
At FCC, we are incredibly proud of the progress we've made in West Miami, where our soccer programs continue to serve as a platform for both skill development and character building. Recently, we focused on fundamental passing and shooting drills that not only improved the children's abilities on the field but also fostered respect for one another.
We started with passing drills, teaching the kids how to properly kick the ball to ensure they could pass it accurately to their teammates. As their passing skills improved, we introduced shooting drills. The kids would pass the ball to a teammate, who would return it to set them up for a shot. These exercises reinforced teamwork and precision, essential elements of the game.
However, the most valuable lesson we worked on was respect. Throughout the drills, we noticed moments where kids were not being as kind to their peers as they should be. We took the opportunity to address this, explaining the importance of respecting everyone, both on and off the field. We emphasized that soccer is not just about individual performance but about supporting and uplifting one another as a team. Respect is a core value that goes beyond sports, and we are committed to teaching it in everything we do.
Through these sessions, we’re not just helping kids become better soccer players—we’re shaping them into better teammates and individuals. The progress we've seen so far has been inspiring, and we look forward to continuing this journey with the West Miami community.
Let’s keep working together to create positive change through soccer!
