Empowering Change Through Soccer

A Story of Impact at FCC

At FCC, we believe in the transformative power of soccer—not just as a sport, but as a tool for personal and community growth. One of the individuals who embodies this mission is Juliana Puentes whose heartfelt journey with FCC has impacted countless lives, especially among young people in underserved communities.

A Story of Dedication and Passion
Juliana Puentes from Medellin Colombia has been a pivotal figure in FCC’s mission to use soccer as a medium for change. Her passion for the sport is only matched by her commitment to the youth she mentors. Through her leadership, young players are not only learning how to score goals but are also being equipped with life-changing socio-emotional skills such as resilience, teamwork, and self-worth.

In her own words, Juliana shares how soccer becomes a space for growth: "Soccer is a space where kids learn to trust, focus, and believe in themselves. Every time they step on the field, they’re not just playing—they’re overcoming."

Impact Beyond the Game
For Juliana, the impact goes far beyond what happens on the field. She recalls stories of young people who, through FCC's soccer programs, have turned trauma into triumph. By providing a structured environment and strong mentorship, FCC helps these youth find purpose and direction amidst the challenges they face at home or in school.

“Many of the kids come from tough backgrounds, but we use soccer to help them break through those barriers. They learn discipline, focus, and how to be part of a team, but more than that, they start to see their own potential,” she explains.

Building a Brighter Future
As she continues her work with FCC, she remains deeply committed to helping the next generation rise above their circumstances. Whether it’s through mentoring, coaching, or just being a source of encouragement, she is always there to ensure that every child understands their worth and what they’re capable of achieving.

FCC’s programs, led by dedicated individuals like Juliana, are changing the lives of boys, girls, and young people across communities. By providing a safe space to grow, learn, and play, they are not only building better soccer players—they are building future leaders.

"Every goal is more than a point on the scoreboard; it’s a step towards a better future."
